My album Mirko Guerrini Horizontal Quartet is a true celebration of MELODY.
Being Italian, could it have been possible to be any different? 🤣
The melody (notes proceeding horizontally) embeds all the other musical elements, like harmony, rhythm and form.
Andrea Keller on piano, Tamara Murphy on double bass, and Niko Schäuble on drums are the best partners in developing music conceived horizontally, and I am so grateful to have them playing my music.
All the original compositions reflect the same idea, and the instruments in the band are considered independent voices, part of a polyphonic ensemble.
I am so proud of this album and very excited to share the results of my research with all of you.

Hey jazz lover!
A small word to personally thank you for recently becoming a fan.
The question is:
“Why give away a free signed album?”
The answer is very simple: In this world where music is basically free for everyone, to establish a personal (and human) connection with a fan means a lot, and the personal touch of the signature is again a very small gesture to thank you for your support. I also hope to see you at a future show, and maybe you’ll even spread the word to friends.
All you need to do is cover the shipping, and I'll send it straight to you.
And to top it off, you’ll also get a free download so you can start listening right away while you wait for the CD to arrive!
Wait, do you think that's all? I include a free score (pdf ) of my song Elegy for Stefano, so that you can play it yourself.
I’m confident you’re going to enjoy the Horizontal Quartet and very happy that you will receive it very soon.
“Beautiful jazz composition, performed live and because of that fact, the quality of the performers makes even more amazing.
Blissful piano, followed by mesmerised saxophonist makes this duet a waking dream.
Solo piano moments makes deep impression while listening, as the talent behind the keys. ”

As a bandleader, though, this genial Italian musician is not the whip-cracking type. And his musical ''circus'' is definitely a collective enterprise rather than a one-man show.
Guerrini shapes his improvisations as persuasively as he constructs his compositions. His assured, fluid lines form natural contours and climaxes that pull the audience - and his fellow musicians - along for the ride.

CD review
Guerrini’s liberated tenor playing is clear and detailed in delivery. The appearance of his duduk during the first part of
2nd Exit is somewhat of an anomaly perhaps, as this gentle and tonally laden introduction seems not to refer to the bluesy 12/8 composition that follows. Guerrini’s improvisation on tenor later in this track is impressive, revealing a hard-grooving, gutsy and dense approach.
